The Minnesota Thoroughbred Association was incorporated in 1971 and our mission is to promote, educate and support Thoroughbred breeding, ownership, and racing in Minnesota and around the country.

Our association is composed of breeders, owners, trainers and race fans, who are a vital part of Minnesota’s Thoroughbred breeding and racing industry on a daily basis.

The MTA works closely with Canterbury Park, the Minnesota Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association, the Minnesota Racehorse Engagement Project and other industry programs to provide our Thoroughbreds with every opportunity for a successful racing career and the opportunity to have long and productive second careers when their racing days are done.
