The MTA’s 2017 Stallion Service Auction will be held online at www.thoroughlybred.com from January 2 – 8, 2017. A Book II Auction will be held from January 9 – 30. Our Stallion Auction Representatives have begun their recruiting efforts and we anticipate that the special incentives being offered will help us create another successful auction, resulting in a precocious group of 2018 foals!
The 2021 MTA Stallion Auction Stakes will run for an estimated $75,000 and all 2018 progeny of the stallions sold during our 2017 online auction, are eligible for nomination – regardless of where they are foaled! When a season sells duing the MTA’s auction, the stallion’s entire foal crop from that breeding season is eligible to be nominated.
The MTA is offering terrific incentives for stallion owners and mare owners in 2017. A $10,000 bonus will be shared if the horse that wins the 2021 MTA Stallion Auction Stakes is the result of a breeding purchased during this auction. The stallion owner, who donates the season, and the mare owner, who purchases the season, will share the bonus when that particular 2018 foal wins the race! Mare owners will name the mare by October 31, 2017, and the owner will nominate the 2018 foal to the 2021 MTA Stallion Auction Stakes.
When a Minnesota-bred wins, places or shows in the 2021 MTA Stallion Auction Stakes, there will be an additional $5,000 bonus that will be shared between the owners of those horses.
We also offering a new profit-sharing program for stallion owners! In an effort to bring better, higher priced stallions to our auction, the MTA offered stallion owners a percentage of the final bid, based on the stallion’s 2017 published stud fee.
